Manchester United face serious competition from the Bundesliga to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton, according to reports from Germany.

Both Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are interested in Dibling, who has impressed in a poor Southampton team this season, according to Sky Sport Deutschland, echoing reports that as many as 17 clubs are following the exciting youngster.

But while the competition for the 19-year-old is heating up, Man Utd have received some positive news in that Dibling will not cost anything like the €80 million it was previously claimed.

Florian Plettenberg has taken to X to report: “A move for Tyler Dibling is planned for the end of the season following Southampton’s relegation.

“FC Bayern and RB Leipzig remain interested, with Leipzig currently ahead in the race. Dibling is open to a move to the Bundesliga.

“The transfer fee is expected to be significantly lower than reported – figures around €70–80m are wide of the mark.

“Tottenham are also keen, but are currently considered outsiders in the race for the teenager.”

Big decision looms for Dibling

Dibling’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently sits at €32m yet there is a belief that the Exeter-born star has the potential to become a starter for any Premier League club.

Indeed, he is one of the most valuable teenagers in the world, though he trails the likes of Barcelona pair Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi by a long way in this regard, barely scraping into the top 20. Clubs are, nevertheless, poised to take a gamble on his undoubted potential.

Man Utd may be trying to adopt a more youthful approach in the transfer market, but Dibling will doubtless look at the way Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho, for example, developed their game in the Bundesliga and be tempted by the prospect of first-team football.
