Where Are They Now? Leicester's Premier League winning heroes

Against all the odds, Leicester City miraculously won the Premier League in 2015/16.
Having just about avoided releagation the previous season, Leicester went on a tear during the 2015/16 season, blowing away all their opponents to sensationally win the Premier League for the first time in their history despite starting the season as 5000-1 outsiders with bookmakers.

Two of the four core players from that squad went on to succeed at the very highest levels of the game, while the other two remained legends and productive players for the Foxes for years to come. It was a truly iconic group.
But where are those players now? And where are the rest of that incredible squad? What happened to them after their heroics with Leicester? Let's have a look!
Claudio Ranieri
The lovable Claudio Ranieri joined Leicester at the start of the 2015/16 season and, while he didn't scout or sign any of the players in the team it was his vision that united them as a group and led them to achieve the impossible. He won Manager of the Month three times during the season and was understandably voted Manager of the Year as well.
Where are they now? Managing his beloved Roma (for the third time in his career) having come out of retirement to help them in their hour of need.

Kasper Schmeichel
Leicester's iconic goalkeeper was a pillar of strength between the sticks as he followed in his father's footsteps by winning the Premier League.
Where are they now? Starting for Celtic, having just won the Scottish Premier League and in with a chance to secure a domestic treble!
Danny Simpson
Simpson is a man of questionable character but on the field this Champions League winner (technically true, look it up) was a solid and dependable figure on the right of Leicester's defence.
Where are they now? Retired in 2024. Last seen boxing YouTuber Danny Aarons in a charity match with his Premier League winner's medal on the line. It ended in a draw.

Robert Huth
Another man of uncertain moral fibre, Huth was a gigantic veteran who had learned his defensive trade as a back-up during Jose Mourinho's title winning seasons at Chelsea. Huth became the seventh man to win the Premier League with multiple clubs when Leicester took the title, and his experience played a big part in it.
Where are they now? Retired soon after in 2018 as injuries took their toll on him.
Wes Morgan
Outside of all-timers like Messi, Pele, Xavi and Zidane, you'd do well to find a more inspirational four year run than Wes Morgan had from 2012-2016.
Captain Morgan joined Leicester in January 2012, became club captain later that year, won the Championship in 2014, survived relegation in 2015 and then captained Leicester to Premier League glory whilst playing every single second of the title campaign in 2016!
Morgan was voted into the PFA Team of the Year as an extra reward.
Where are they now? Retired in 2021 after 10 years and 323 appearances with Leicester, having also helped the Foxes win the 2021 FA Cup!

Christian Fuchs
A crossing machine. Fuchs was a rock solid part of Leicester's title win, anchoring the left-back spot and providing 4 assists as they won it all.
Where are they now? Retired in 2023 after playing for FSA Pro, a team he owns and runs in the Fox Soccer Academy.
Riyad Mahrez
Mahrez signed for Leicester for just £450,000 in one of the great bits of modern scouting (but only the second best bit of modern scouting in this team!) and he was a pivotal part of Leicester's title win.
For his epic contributions, Mahrez got into the PFA Team of the Year and won the Players Player of the Year and Fans Player of the Year as well as both African Footballer of the Year awards too.
Where are they now? Playing for Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League having won almost everything there is to win after leaving Leicester for Man City (a Treble, the Africa Cup of Nations... only a World Cup eludes him!) and establishing himself as one of the very best Premier League players of all-time.

N'Golo Kante
The greatest bit of modern scouting of all-time. Leicester signed N'Golo Kante for just €8 million from Caen to succeed their Champions League winning veteran Esteban Cambiasso. Suffice to say it worked out.
Kante was so good in midfield that Leicester often felt like they were playing a three-man midfield when in reality it was a two. The Frenchman was absolute pivotal to the way the Foxes were able to neutralise their much grander opponents and was one of the four Leicester players to make it into the PFA Team of the Year.
Where are they now? Currently playing for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad. Kante, like Mahrez, left Leicester and became one of the world's best players.
In fact, he won the Premier League back-to-back, joining Chelsea and helping them achieve glory in 2017. He also gave us one of the greatest ever Champions League runs as he guided Chelsea to glory in that competition in 2021. He also won the Europa League in 2019, the Nations League in 2021 and the World Cup in 2018.
Danny Drinkwater
While Kante was a buzzsaw of energy, Danny Drinkwater was the more stable presence in the Leicester midfield. Putting tackles in and spraying passes about the pitch.
Where are they now? Retired in 2022 after playing just 75 times following his move to Chelsea in 2017. And not because of injury, either. A cautionary tale that the grass isn't always greener.
Marc Albrighton
While Mahrez was magical on the right-wing, Marc Albrighton was more rudimentary on the left. Charging up and down the flank, Albrighton's primary currency were energy and crosses and he put both to great use.
Where are they now? Retired just last summer, having helped Leicester win promotion back to the Premier League in his 10th season with the club.

Shinji Okazaki
The Japanese forward was a pressing legend for Leicester. His energy and link-play bamboozled so many opponents. And while he only scored 5 goals during the title-winning campaign, four of them were essential to winning points for the Foxes.
Where are they now? Retired last summer in 2024 after spells in Spain and Belgium. He also ended his career as the third-highest goalscorer in the history of the Japanese national team with 50 goals.
Jamie Vardy
The living legend himself. Jamie Vardy joined Leicester from non-league Fleetwood Town and is arguably the third greatest bit of modern scouting, at least in England. Vardy was Leicester's top scorer as they won the title, bagging 24 times.
Vardy was awarded the FWA Footballer of the Year and was the fourth and final member of the team to make the PFA Team of the Season.
Where are they now? Still playing for Leicester and has just announced he will leave the club at the end of this, his 13th season, in Leicester colours. Presently has 198 goals in 496 games for the Foxes. A Premier League, an FA Cup, a Community Shield and two Championships.
He will retire as Leicester's fourth all-time appearance-maker and third all-time top goalscorer. Not bad for a £1 million signing from Fleetwood Town!
