Why Inter Miami transfer is PERFECT for Man Utd & Liverpool target Redondo
Federico Redondo is on the verge of joining Inter Miami, as per multiple sources, in a huge transfer for Tata Martino’s team.
The MLS side have reached an €8 million agreement to sign the 21-year-old midfielder from Argentinos Juniors, according to Fabrizio Romano, while a 15% sell-on clause has also been added.
It is a major coup for Inter Miami, who have beaten the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich to Redondo’s signature.
The Argentina wonderkid had been heavily linked with a move to a top European club following his outstanding performances in his homeland, but he has opted to join his countryman Lionel Messi at the David Beckham-owned club instead.
Redondo is widely considered to be one of South America’s top young prospects and he was expected to follow in Andrey Santos’ footsteps by joining a huge club on the European scene. However, his move to the MLS is actually perfect.
Why Inter Miami transfer is the ideal next step for Federico Redondo
While Santos’ first year at Chelsea has gone disastrously, Redondo has the chance to develop slightly away from the spotlight in the MLS.
The presence of Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets means the pressure to perform will still be high, however Redondo won’t need to immediately impress.
Furthermore, the presence of Busquets is huge. The Spaniard is one of the best defensive midfielders in football history and could be the perfect mentor for Redondo at this stage of his career.
Busquets was the fulcrum of one of the most dominant teams of all time at Barcelona and his experience will be of vital importance as Redondo continues his development.
If the 21-year-old can absorb all of Busquets’ knowledge and experience during their time together at Inter Miami, then he will be a vastly better player for it. Learning from an older professional is an underrated facet of football at the highest level, but it will no doubt have played a key role in why Redondo opted for an MLS move.
Joining a top European club may have seemed like the best course of action given the best teams on the planet play in the Champions League, however Redondo has chosen a wise destination in Inter Miami thanks to the help he can receive from Busquets.
Furthermore, playing alongside arguably the greatest player of all time will have no doubt been an attractive proposition and Redondo’s development is set to skyrocket at Inter Miami thanks to the players he will be surrounded by and the fact he will be rewarded with significant game time every single week.
It’s a slightly unusual move given the hype around him, but Redondo could thrive in America before finally making a highly-anticipated transfer to one of Europe’s best teams.
