Hollywood star admits she's in love with Lionel Messi
Hollywood star Catherine Zeta-Jones has admitted she is in love with World Cup hero Lionel Messi - and says her husband Michael Douglas is completely fine with it.
Messi finally got his hands on football’s biggest trophy on Sunday as the 35-year-old led Argentina to World Cup glory in the final against France.
Argentina won 4-2 on penalties after an epic 3-3 draw in what was arguably the most exciting World Cup final of all time.
Messi was naturally the star of the show as he scored twice, and also dispatched his penalty in the shootout.
And the 35-year-old has a big admirer in the form of actress Zeta-Jones, who has starred in a host of Hollywood movies, most notably the Mask of Zorro with Antonio Banderas.
The Welsh actress, who is married to Hollywood legend Michael Douglas, showered Messi with praise on Instagram.
What did Catherine Zeta-Jones say about Messi?
"The best match I have ever seen, ever!!!,” the 53-year-old Zeta-Jones said.
“Look, I support Paris Saint Germain, why, one wonders, I love the French, speak it too, my heart goes out to you.
"But you have to understand, I Love MESSI and the best bit?....my husband is just fine with it. no need to....so Don't cry for me or anybody else, Argentina!!!! OLE!!! What a guy!
“Doesn't care about my Messi posters all over the house, like....super cool."
Messi was named World Cup player of the tournament, taking home the World Cup Golden Ball.
He scored seven goals in the finals, only second to France star Kylian Mbappe.
Messi also provided three assists, which made him the joint-best creator in the tournament. He also scored in every knockout game and all but one of Argentina’s seven games in the competition.
