Tchouameni transfer done, Nunez to Liverpool close – Saturday’s five key events
Saturday was a big day in the world of football transfer news, with one €100 million deal completed and another set to follow very quickly.
Aurelien Tchouameni’s move from Monaco to Real Madrid was confirmed in the morning while FootballTransfers broke the news that Liverpool had a formal offer for Benfica’s Darwin Nunez accepted later in the day.
It was not just these big moves that made headlines on 11 June, though.
Tchouameni makes €100m Real Madrid transfer
After weeks of speculation, Real Madrid finally landed their man in the form of France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. He has joined them on a six-year deal following a €100m transfer that will see Los Blancos pay €80m up front.
It’s a big fee for the player but the hope is that he will be able to transfer the undoubted qualities he showed at Monaco to the Primera Division side.
Liverpool have €100m Darwin Nunez bid accepted
The deal that will take Darwin Nunez to Anfield will be structured in a similar manner to the Tchouameni deal, with €80m set to go to the Portuguese side up front.
Nkunku set for new RB Leipzig contract
Christopher Nkunku has been one of the talking points of the 2022 summer transfer market but will move to shut down speculation over his future by signing a new deal with RB Leipzig.
The good news for Manchester United, Chelsea, PSG and those other clubs who are chasing him is that it simply delays his inevitable move, as FootballTransfers explains why.
Barcelona braced for Frenkie de Jong exit
Barcelona president Joan Laporta said that the club are “ready” to sell players in order to ease the club’s financial problems.
This will, of course, be music to the ears of Manchester United, who are so intently chasing Frenkie de Jong.
Meanwhile, Laporta also gave a contract update on Gavi and Ousmane Dembele.
Bowen to Arsenal?
West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen has been linked with a transfer to Arsenal.
It might sound like a leftfield move, but it could be a shrewd move for the Gunners; one that would particularly benefit Bukayo Saka.
