Lewandowski to Barcelona could help Real Madrid solve transfer problem

Barcelona’s transfer pursuit of Bayern Munich striker could inadvertently do Real Madrid a favour should the deal be concluded.
Barca are pushing hard to sign the Poland international from the Bundesliga champions, who in turn are eager that they do not lose the prolific striker over the summer. Indeed, reports on Thursday indicated that Bayern have held talks with Pini Zahavi, Lewandowski’s agent, and have told him the No.9 will not be sold.
The German side, though, are looking at alternatives for Lewandowski should they receive the type of bid that they could not refuse. Barcelona have had their purse strings loosened a little by new Financial Fair Play (FFP) legislation in Spain, and should this tip the balance in their favour, Bayern need to find a replacement.

As Lukas Podolski told FootballTransfers, they will be actively working behind the scenes to find other options. Several have been suggested, including Ajax forward Sebastien Haller, but another viable choice is Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, who has a prolific history in the Bundesliga.
Sport reports that Jovic wants to return to the Bundesliga after a nightmare spell in Madrid that has seen him net only three goals in 49 appearances over three seasons.
On a wage of around €10m per year, the former Eintracht Frankfurt hitman will not necessarily be easy to move on, despite reported interest from the likes of Arsenal, Everton and Milan.
If Lewandowski was to move to Barcelona, though, a domino effect could be set in motion if Bayern start making moves for the 24-year-old. It would surely hasten the player’s departure and allowed Real Madrid additional funds to do business in the summer transfer market, as well as freeing up wages and relieving them of one of a number of squad players they are eager to move on.
Of course, this is unlikely to put Barcelona off a transfer for Lewandowski, but the spin-off effect could also favour their great rivals.
