Mbappe to Real Madrid: The contract request PSG will not meet
Kylian Mbappe's transfer from PSG to Real Madrid is not yet completed.
While there have been reports that a verbal agreement has been reached between the World Cup winner and the Spanish champions, there has been nothing yet signed to formalise the deal.
As such, PSG are holding out hope that they can persuade the 23-year-old to sign a fresh contract with the club that will prevent him from becoming a free agent on 1 July.
Marca reports that there is an economic understanding between the player and the Ligue 1 club which runs to a €50 million per year contract plus a staggering signing on fee of €100m.
Such figures have thrown doubt into the minds of some in the Spanish media that the deal with Real Madrid can be completed.
Why Mbappe has no PSG agreement
El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol, for example, admitted his doubt over the deal live on air during Wednesday’s transmission before the rather outlandish claim was made that Mbappe was effectively being offered a dual role of player and sporting director at Parc des Princes.
Indeed, Marca’s report runs perfectly contrary to that: the sticking point of negotiations between PSG and Mbappe is over the sporting direction of the club.
It is stated that Mbappe still wants PSG to axe present sporting director Leonardo and he has concerns that the replacement for head coach Mauricio Pochettino will not be a good one.
So far, the Parisian club are said to be refusing to buckle on these points, pushing Mbappe closer to Real Madrid.
Indeed, despite fears from some quarters of the media in Spain, this is a deal that looks increasingly probable to be concluded, with an announcement expected following PSG’s final match of the Ligue 1 season against Metz on Saturday.
