Why PSG and Barca have an edge over Liverpool and Bayern for Adeyemi
Karim Adeyemi of Red Bull Salzburg is set to be one of the stories of the summer transfer market, with Liverpool and Bayern Munich ready to bid for the 19-year-old Germany international forward.
Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, though, may hold trump cards in signing the teenager, who has been making headlines in Austria thanks to his spectacular form.
As well as netting 11 times in 13 outings in the Austrian Bundesliga, he has found the target three times in four Champions League fixtures, albeit two of those goals were penalties.
Nevertheless, the striker is firmly in the spotlight.
Adeyemi's Messi love
PSG hold one crucial advantage if they choose to move for him in the summer: Lionel Messi.
Adeyemi has confessed in the past that he is a massive fan of the Argentina star and would love to play alongside him.
“Before it was always my dream to play with the best player in the world, that is with Lionel Messi, at Barcelona. I definitely want to play for a great club in one of the most important leagues,” Adeyemi told Transfermarkt back in 2019.
“Ever since I've been a little child I've always liked Messi and that's why I think Barca is my favourite football club.”
Of course, Barcelona are also put firmly in the running with this quote, but the prospect of PSG completing a deal would appear to be better based off this. After all, they can offer Salzburg a substantially bigger transfer fee and can give Adeyemi a far greater salary – plus the opportunity to spend a year or two next to his childhood hero.
In the meantime, though, it appears destiny for Adeyemi to follow in the footsteps of Erling Haaland out of Red Bull Salzburg and to the very top of the game.
