Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is the talk of the January transfer window, with Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus and Tottenham all reportedly interested in him.

It is easy to see why there is a clamour to sign the 21-year-old Serbia international.

After all, he has 16 goals in 20 Serie A matches this season and has chipped in four more assists.

In 2021, he equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for goals in Italy’s top flight in a calendar year.

With natural goal scorers a rarity, having a player who is so efficient in front of goal is priceless, and that is reflected by the volume and stature of clubs who are ready to haggle over him.

Fiorentina are reportedly holding out for €100 million for their superstar. Given he is under contract until 2023, this promises to be a risky stance given that his value is likely to depreciate in the summer, especially if his form takes a dip.

January, though, is notorious as an expensive juncture to sign players. If Fiorentina were to sell Vlahovic, for example, their window to sign a replacement would be extremely small. This makes doing business risky.

But what would be a fair price for the in-form striker?

Fiorentina’s Vlahovic valuation astronomical

According to FootballTransfers’ algorithm, which calculates the value of a player by assessing hundreds of in-game data points as well as external factors such as age and contract length, Fiorentina would be doing exceptionally well to receive their €100m asking price.

Instead, it is calculated that Vlahovic is worth €45m.

Given the number of clubs interested in the striker, Fiorentina will be hoping to instigate a bidding war in the summer, which will drive his price up and possibly force one club to pay over the odds. They will not want to part with their ace in January.

Arsenal, Juventus and Man City, then, better get saving if they want to sign Vlahovic later in 2022.
