Darwin Nunez, Erling Haaland, Ryan Gravenberch and Marquinhos all completed transfers on a busy day of the 2022 summer window.

OK… Nunez’s deal isn’t quite done yet, but Benfica have announced the sale and to all intents and purposes the Uruguay international is the Anfield club’s player.

But it is not just these transfers that have been making football headlines – there has been talk of Arsenal launching their first €100 million plus deal and the ramification of the deals that have been done are extensive.

Benfica announce Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool transfer

In the early hours of Monday, Benfica published a statement confirming that they had sold Darwin Nunez to Liverpool.

He is the second €100m player of the transfer window, following Aurelien Tchouameni’s move to Monaco, but the size of the deal is huge and there are doubts as to whether he can live up to the expectation.

Man City complete Erling Haaland deal

Manchester City formally announced the arrival of Erling Haaland in the middle of the morning. The signing of the Borussia Dortmund striker was a poorly kept secret and no surprise when it was done.

He is a prolific scorer but success should not be taken for granted in this City team, after all, his injury record is alarming.

Bayern sign €30m Gravenberch

Ajax have lost one of their brightest young hopes as 20-year-old midfielder Ryan Gravenberch completed his expected move to Bayern Munich for a fee that could rise as high as €30m.

The Amsterdam side, though, continue to churn out high-quality youngsters, as Karan Tejwani explains.
